Her paper titled “New Aged Care: bringing documentation methods for residential aged care into the 21st century” explained the journey which Eldercare began in 2008 to implement PeoplePoint at all 12 residential facilities.
Cathy talked about some of the initial and ongoing challenges faced, including infrastructure requirements (eg networking and computers) and training needs for staff. She also highlighted some of the benefits of the move to electronic documentation of resident assessments, care plans and delivery of care. These include a systematic consistent approach to this documentation, improved access to the data and better reporting.
