Acacia Court Site Operations Manager Ryan Midgley said staff and residents were growing moustaches and beards to raise money for health programs targeting prostate and testicular cancer, mental health and physical activity.
“We are fertilising and growing some great beards and moustaches for Movember and the ‘mos’ are becoming a real talking point across Acacia Court.”
Mr Midgely said he was a long-time supporter of the annual event, which began in 2003, and had personally raised more than $6,000 for The Movember Foundation.
“As a health professional, I feel that taking part in Movember is a great way to increase awareness of men’s health issues and provide funding for research that is so vital to improve the health of men worldwide.
“I have found it extremely good fun because it creates a really great team atmosphere and everyone can take part.”
Mr Midgley said Movember at Acacia Court involved both ‘Mo Bros’ and ‘Mo Sistas’ with female residents creating ‘faux mos’ as part of a special craft project.
The Acacia Court team had raised $260 for Movember so far and has set a target of $1000.
Mr Midgely encouraged people to support Acacia Court’s ‘mo growing’ efforts by making a donation to the team via the Movember website: http://moteam.co/eldercare-acacia-court.
“Not only will you be helping ‘change the face of men's health’ by raising money for a wonderful cause, you will also be providing our residents with a great sense of achievement so please dig deep!”
