Groundbreaking ceremony for $24.5 million redevelopment celebrated at Glengowrie

A sod turning event at Glengowrie yesterday marked the start of the $24.5 million redevelopment of Eldercare's residential aged care facility Allambi.

The Mayors of Holdfast Bay and Marion City Councils joined Eldercare Chief Executive Jane Pickering for the groundbreaking ceremony.

“I’m delighted Mayor Stephen Patterson and Mayor Kris Hanna could take part in this special event given the boundary separating both council areas runs through our property,” Ms Pickering said.

“This project represents a major investment for Eldercare and will incorporate extensions to the current facility as well as upgrades to existing areas that will benefit residents, families and staff.

“The redevelopment of Allambi will deliver an extra 106 aged care beds as well as new and enhanced facilities such as improved dementia support facilities, a new café, additional multi-purpose spaces and homelike sitting areas.”

Eldercare Board Chair Rev. Dr. Ian Price said two major redevelopments of Eldercare residential aged care facilities in Adelaide were now underway.

“The Lodge at Wayville and Allambi at Glengowrie are now undergoing major renovations that will enable Eldercare to further enhance the tailored and person-centred support we already offer residents,” Rev. Dr. Price said.

“Eldercare is committed to delivering the best care and support possible and these multi-million dollar investments send a clear sign to the community that we are dedicated to the long-term care of older South Australians.”

The redevelopment of Allambi at Glengowrie is scheduled for completion in mid-2016.
