Volunteer contributions recognised

Eldercare volunteers, staff and residents recently marked National Volunteer Week (8-14 May) with site-based celebrations held across the organisation.

VolunteerMorning and afternoon teas as well as lunches were held throughout the week at Eldercare’s 11 residential aged care sites across the Greater Adelaide and Yorke Peninsula regions.

Eldercare Volunteer Program Coordinator Jennifer Dunkley said volunteers were thanked for their support by both residents and staff and were presented with certificates of appreciation.

“We have a team of 300 dedicated volunteers who are helping Eldercare deliver peace of mind with our care and we would not be able to provide this high-quality support without their contribution,” said Ms Dunkley.

“We welcome volunteers of all ages, backgrounds and cultures as everyone brings different life experiences and skills to enhance the wellbeing of residents.”

Ms Dunkley said Eldercare is currently looking for volunteers to help in a variety of roles including small activity group facilitators as well as visitors who can spend time with residents individually and provide valuable companionship.

Volunteer positions are available across the majority of Eldercare’s residential aged care facilities.
