Works to revitalise Day Therapy Centre unveiled

A small ribbon cutting ceremony was held this morning to celebrate the completion of works to upgrade Eldercare’s Day Therapy Centre in Hendon.

Eldercare Day Therapy Centre Coordinator Jenny Taylor said the upgrades, which involved relocating the Day Therapy Centre within our residential care facility Acacia Court, have transformed the centre into a ‘light, bright and professional’ space.

“We are very excited about the ‘new’ Day Therapy Centre as there will be plenty of room to move in the gym and each service area will have a dedicated, fit-for-purpose space,” said Jenny.

“Our team of allied health professionals now have much more flexibility as they have a choice of where to treat their clients and can use a larger variety of treatment options.”

The quieter location of the new centre will benefit speech pathology clients by allowing for better communication.

Physiotherapy staff now have the space to take a more active and reabling approach to supporting their clients.

The works included the conversion of small, vacant rooms into a large space for exercise classes and the refurbishment of space for individual treatment sessions.

The centre also features new floor coverings, paint and security upgrades.

Much of the work carried out was informed by feedback from the 2019 Day Therapy Centre annual survey and existing Day Therapy Centre clients were consulted throughout the planning and construction stages.

Day Therapy Centre client Peter Kay said he receives treatment for back and nerve pain but seeing the new space has convinced him to sign up for more services.

“The upgrades are spectacular – I’m going to look into getting into the gym so I can keep my strength and balance up,” said Peter.

Eldercare’s Day Therapy Centre is located at residential care facility Acacia Court on Tapleys Hill Rd in Hendon.
