Eldercare a finalist for Dementia Care Award
Eldercare has been selected as a finalist for the 2016 Alzheimer's Australia SA Dementia Care Excellence Award.
Dementia Excellence Program Manager Sarah Jamieson said she was ‘delighted’ Eldercare had been recognised for its ‘hard work and commitment to improving residents’ wellbeing’.
“Staff across Eldercare have worked tirelessly over the last few years through our Dementia Excellence Program to change our culture away from one that is task-focused to one that is truly person-centred.
Ms Jamieson attributed the success of the program to Eldercare’s ‘teamwork approach’.
“The program empowers everyone to work towards improving quality of life for our residents.
“A number of small changes to staff attitudes, work patterns, communication, the environment and Eldercare’s culture all work together to improve the lives of individual people.
“Because of the program, wellbeing has increased with individual residents becoming more relaxed, more engaged, more valued, better understood and more active.”
Eldercare is one of four finalists for the 2016 Alzheimer's Australia SA Dementia Care Excellence Award which will be announced at the South Australian Community Achievement Awards on Friday 25 November 2016 at the Hilton Adelaide.
