Eldercare exceeds fundraising goal for Dementia SA

Eldercare employees and their families raised almost twice their target amount for this year's Dementia SA Memory Walk and Jog at Glenelg.

Dementia Excellence Program Manager Sarah Jamieson said Team Eldercare 2018 entered the event, held on Sunday March 18, with a fundraising goal of $500 and ended up raising a total of $904.

“We are absolutely delighted with this result and I would like to thank family members, friends and colleagues who generously supported team members’ fundraising efforts,” said Sarah.

“What’s fantastic is that the money we have raised will stay here in the state enabling Dementia SA to provide support and deliver services to South Australians who are either living with dementia or caring for someone who is.”

Ms Jamieson said the blustery conditions failed to deter Eldercare employees and their families from joining almost 1,000 other people for the event.

“There was a wonderful energy amongst event participants despite the weather because we knew we were ‘all in it together’,” said Sarah.

“The challenging conditions just made us even more determined to complete the course and raise awareness about dementia.

“Team Eldercare 2018 was the biggest group we’ve entered to date and we hope to do it all again in 2019.”
