Eldercare 'getting active to beat dementia'

A team of Eldercare employees will participate in Alzheimer's Australia SA's Memory Walk and Jog on Sunday 26 March to raise money in the fight against dementia.

Staff will walk a 6km return route – from Colley Reserve in Glenelg to Somerton Beach – and funds raised will be used to provide counselling services and educational resources for health professionals, people living with dementia and their families.

Eldercare Dementia Excellence Program Manager Sarah Jamieson said Eldercare staff were eager to support the cause which is ‘close to their hearts’.

“As the winner of Alzheimer’s Australia SA’s Dementia Care Excellence Award at the 2016 South Australian Community Achievement Awards, we welcome the opportunity to support Alzheimer’s Australia SA by participating in this major fundraising event,” said Ms Jamieson.

“Eldercare is both committed to, and passionate about, improving the wellbeing and quality of life for people living with dementia.

“We believe exercise, like walking, has the power to improve wellbeing and we encourage everyone to join this year’s Memory Walk and Jog.”
