Eldercare Seaford residents forging connections with local students

Eldercare Seaford Wellbeing Consultant Rebecca Walker has been busy connecting residents and local students who are being home-schooled.

“Some of my friends were saying how hard they are finding it to keep their little ones engaged in the writing classes so I suggested that they write letters, diaries, draw pictures, send video clips to our residents,” said Rebecca.

“Many families have jumped on board and my inbox is being flooded with love.”

Brooklyn is one the local student to send in handwritten letters and paintings, prompting residents Barb, Glenda, Erika, Joan and Don to respond with a joint letter of their own and an Easter painting by Barb.

Brooklyn is now writing a daily diary and a story to send through regularly.

“These intergenerational connections are such a positive experience both for our residents and for the children being home-schooled.” said Rebecca.

A small silver lining to the COVID-19 cloud!
