Eldercare supports Defence Force Reserves
The Australian Defence Force accepted Eldercare as a Supportive Employer in 2017 in recognition of the leave benefits the organisation provides volunteer Reservists.
Chief Executive Jane Pickering said Eldercare has joined a group of more than 1300 Australian organisations across a range of industries, including health care, manufacturing and agriculture, who have publically pledged their support for Reservists.
“Defence Force Reservists are valued members of the community who have voluntarily chosen to help play a role in protecting our national security and Eldercare applauds them for taking on this important additional responsibility,” said Ms Pickering.
“As a Supportive Employer, Eldercare staff members are entitled to extra leave which can be used to undertake training and other courses relevant to their Reservist roles.
“This entitlement aligns with Eldercare’s purpose to deliver peace of mind which includes providing certainty to our employees that their choice to be a Reservist will be supported.”
As part of the additional leave entitlements, full-time employees are entitled to a maximum of 10 days unpaid leave per year for annual training and a further 10 days of unpaid leave for the purpose of attending courses.
Part-time and casual staff are also eligible to receive leave entitlements commensurate with their employment status.
