New gym space opened at The Lodge

Eldercare residents and staff celebrated the completion of a new gym space at Wayville aged care home The Lodge last week.

Occupational Therapist at The Lodge, Kim Nguyen, said the new equipment will allow their team to add a wider variety of exercises to residents’ programs.

“The new gym is in a more convenient and accessible location, so residents who weren’t previously attending our exercise class have now shown interest in participating,” said Kim.

The new gym space also offers an outdoor area where residents can enjoy the weather while they exercise.

Katherine Chan, Physiotherapist at The Lodge, said the recent changes to Eldercare’s allied health model will help residents to better maintain and improve their strength, flexibility, and balance.

“We are very grateful that the new model allows us to deliver more clinically beneficial programs as they focus on more targeted and individualised active treatments for our residents,” said Katherine.
