Residents and staff ‘horsing around’ at The Lodge

Last week the residents and staff at Wayville aged care home The Lodge were treated to a special visit from Henry the Clydesdale.

The rain held off and almost everyone was able to see the horse!

Henry was taken out to memory support units Ash and Birch and he was excellent at squeezing through small gates (not purposefully built for a horse to get through).

The look on the resident’s faces when they saw a giant horse walk past their window was absolutely priceless, and he gained a bit of interest by the surrounding neighbours.

Staff heard many stories from residents of fond memories of their farming days, childhoods and one gentleman told the story of his wedding day when he had a horse and carriage bring his beautiful bride to the church.

Thank you to all the staff and volunteers at The Lodge for helping many residents come outside to see the big, beautiful creature!
