Smile Friendly partnership
In celebration of Dental Health Week 7th – 13th August, Eldercare is pleased to announce that we have proudly partnered with the Australian Dental Foundation (ADF), a national award-winning health promotion charity to improve residents’ oral health outcomes.
Poor oral health has been linked with multiple health problems for older people including respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease, pain, and poor nutrition.
Since the beginning of this partnership, Eldercare has raised the percentage of residents routinely seeing a dentist from 5% to almost 25%, which is well above industry norms.
Eldercare General Manager Wellbeing and Allied Programs Bernard Morrison said ADF’s mobile dental teams regularly visit all Eldercare sites to provide specialist services.
“We are also excited to be a part of the ADF’s new Smile Friendly Partnership, which promotes the importance of oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups for older people in residential care,” said Bernard.
