Short-term (respite) care
Depending on room availability, Eldercare offers a period of up to 4 weeks short-term care with an aim to transition to permanent admission. This enables the resident and Eldercare the opportunity to ensure the fit is right as well as providing an adjustment period that can make for a smoother transition into ongoing care.
Short-term care is of the same high standard that our permanent residents receive, including around-the-clock care from our skilled and attentive staff, home-cooked meals and the opportunity to meet new friends and participate in activities that form part of our lifestyle program.
Eldercare may be able to provide short-term care that does not transition to ongoing care in select situations, such as convalescent care and to aid in recovery after hospitalisation. This is offered at the discretion of the Site Operations Manager for a minimum period of 4 weeks and is based on vacancy levels at the time of enquiry. Priority is given to residents seeking permanent placement, therefore, we cannot take short term respite bookings in advance.
The cost of short-term care is based on the basic daily fee set by the Australian Government and is equivalent to 85% of the single Centrelink aged pension. Short-term fees for the full period are billed in advance upon admission.
Short-term care recipients must have an aged care needs assessment. For more information, call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or go to www.myagedcare.gov.au.
Once you have obtained an aged care needs assessment, you can enquire online or contact our admissions team on 1300 925 414 to discuss your individual circumstances and enquire about room availability.
