Ms Dirix said she was ‘very proud and humbled’ to be nominated as a finalist, after successfully completing a traineeship with Eldercare in 2022 with a focus on palliative care.

“The traineeship not only helped me financially but gave me the hands-on experience to re-enter the workforce,” said Ms Dirix.

“I never thought that I would find a job that I am so passionate about. I absolutely love it, and every day I go home feeling happy and with a full heart.”

The Awards celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of South Australia’s most outstanding VET students, including apprentices and trainees, trainers, training providers, schools, and employers.

The winners will be announced at the South Australian Training Awards gala dinner event on 21 September at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
