Chief Executive Jane Pickering said Dementia Excellence Program Facilitator Tanya Liddell was named ‘Employee of the Year’.

“Tanya has positively impacted countless residents, families and staff across Eldercare – she is a well-deserving recipient who brings genuine passion and enthusiasm to everything she does,” said Jane.

“Tanya’s passion for caring for older South Australians, especially those living with dementia, is evident through her willingness to be involved in so many different initiatives across the organisation.

“She spends countless hours making tailored playlists for residents to enjoy as part of the My Music Program and brightens everyone’s day when she dresses up in costume for themed resident events held as part of our Give Back volunteering program.”

Ms Liddell said she was ‘thrilled’ by the win and thanked her colleagues for her nomination.

“I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to transform my passion for caring for people living with dementia into a career – let alone to be presented with this award,” said Tanya.

“I feel very blessed to have the privilege to work towards improving the lives of those living with dementia every day.

“The Dementia Excellence Program allows us to put our residents at the heart of everything we do and that is something I truly live by at work and at home.”

The Integrated Wellbeing Model, currently being trialled at Eldercare Oxford, was one of four finalists for the Innovation in Service or Design Award which was won by Southern Cross Care.

Ms Pickering said the industry recognition validated the direction Eldercare is taking with its ‘mind, body and spirit’ approach to care.

“Our nomination for the Innovation in Service or Design Award is testament to the holistic care we are delivering at Eldercare,” said Jane.

“We ‘wrap’ our services around each resident so that the care they receive supports their mind, body and spirit and ensures their health, happiness and wellbeing is the best it can be.”

Tanya Liddell will now represent South Australia at the National Aged and Community Services Australia Awards which will be announced in Sydney on Wednesday 5 September.
