Happy International Nurses Day

Nurses: A Voice to Lead - Invest in Nursing and respect rights to secure global health.

International Nurses Day is a Global celebration that acknowledges and celebrates the commitment and bravery of nurses around the world. This year’s theme is “Nurses: A Voice to Lead - Invest in Nursing and respect rights to secure global health.”

May 12 is also the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth, who is considered the founder of modern nursing. In January 1974, this day was officially made International Nurses Day.

Nursing has certainly changed since the late 1800’s when Florence Nightingale set about creating the nursing profession. Compassion, trust, and person-centred care has worked alongside evidence, science, and leadership to create the modern nurse.

Eldercare thanks all our Nurses and carers for the incredibly special work you do every day. Be proud of what you do.
