The Lodge residents treated to a ‘bonnie’ performance

Residents and staff at Wayville aged care home The Lodge were transported (in spirit) to the Scottish Highlands when the Scotch College Pipe Band and Highland Dancers performed last week.

Eldercare The Lodge Wellbeing Consultant Sam McNair said the residents were ‘buzzing’ to get out to see the band on the beautifully sunny day as they performed the same routine that they had presented outside the Adelaide Oval for the Adelaide Christmas Pageant a week earlier.

Resident Harry Landau was particularly excited to watch the performance as he was involved in assisting the school to become co-ed. He said it was ‘wonderful’ to see the students and how well they did!

Many other residents who watched the performance had a great time:

I felt like I was back home!

Dorothy

Reminded me of when I was in a band – I was a drum major!

Roger

I used to play the bagpipes – I wouldn’t have enough wind left in me now, but its wonderful to hear them again.

Tony

Thank you to Sam and her team as well as Property Service Officers John and Jye for helping make the performance happen.
