World Day for Safety and Health at Work

April 28th is World Day for Safety and Health at Work and Workers' Memorial Day, a great opportunity to recognise the importance of work health and safety to prevent work-related injuries and fatalities.

Safe Work Australia’s latest data shows that in 2021, 169 workers were fatally injured at work in Australia. Any fatality at work is unacceptable.

Eldercare has a no-blame approach to incident reporting, making sure that staff feel safe to come forward to report incidents. It is about finding strategies and preventing another person from an incident.

“Staff often don’t think of reporting near misses because they haven’t injured themselves, forgetting that not reporting an incident increases the potential for this to happen again, which may result in a serious injury.” Said Tina Carr, Eldercare Work Health & Safety Team Leader.
